  • The Municipal Band Clarinet Ensemble

    The Clarinet Ensemble of the Municipal Band of Charlottesville will perform at the New Dominion Bookshop on Friday September 27th, 2019 from 7-8pm. This event will be free and open to the public. The New Dominion Bookshop is located at 404 East Main St
    Charlottesville, VA 22902.

    The Charlottesville Municipal Band’s Clarinet Ensemble comprises 4 B-flat clarinets, 1 E-flat alto clarinet, and 1 B-flat bass clarinet. Members include John Blum, Sharon Dudley, Pam Evans, Laurie Keenan, Fred O’Bryant, and Lynda Sawyer. Their repertoire ranges over all time periods and styles from Baroque and Classical era transcriptions to modern clarinet ensemble literature, folk, jazz, and popular music of all kinds. The group enjoys playing for private functions as well as community events, such as the Charlottesville Book Fair, the Gordon Avenue Library After School Reading Club, and holiday music at Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital. They also perform at area assisted living and nursing home facilities.

  • Join me and the United Way at Farmington for this year's Early Education Symposium. I'll be presenting with the wonderful educators from Wildrock on children and nature.

  • Books, Art, Music, Fun! Don't miss the Blue Ridge Writer's Book Fair, Saturday, October 27, 2018 at CitySpace on the Downtown Mall.

  • Kids and Nature Festival! This is an amazing opportunity for us to bring together nature-friendly local schools, non-profits, and organizations that share our love of children and the outdoors. We look forward to having wonderful eco-friendly workshops, activities, and entertainment for the whole family. This event will be a fundraiser for a dedicated space for a Little Planets Playarea and Exploration Center at IX Art Park and part of the proceeds will also benefit our non-profit partner, Wildrock!

    Sunday, March 25, 10am -12:30pm.

    Beloved preschool teacher and author of the Preschool Parent Primer, Pam Evans, will offer a ninety-minute parenting discussion entitled, "It's a good day when something goes wrong." Parents will explore how to use difficult parenting moments as learning opportunities. Childcare will be provided by Wildrock staff in the barn play areas next to the talk. Parents may easily check in on children. Parents and children will be invited to play for an hour after the talk on the playscape. This event is a fundraiser to support Wildrock's On Solid Ground Outreach Program. Suggested donation of $25 to $100. Limited to six families.     Meet local authors who have published fiction, nonfiction, young adult, and children’s books. Their books will be available for purchase and signings.
