Do you want to know how to move to feel younger? Everyone has their own ideas. Walking, swimming, hitting the gym, and stretching like a cat are all great ways to move, but I suggest you take cues from your preschooler.

Movement is so important for our bodies and minds. At the end of this post you will find links to posts on the importance of movement for preschoolers from skipping to rolling…but this post is unusual here at the Preschool Parent Blog, because it’s about movement for you, the parent or caregiver.

Most preschoolers move naturally without over thinking it. As a preschool teacher, I am on the floor daily (up and down a lot). I skip, run, twirl, climb, and dance with my young friends. I have also noticed preschoolers stop moving if something hurts and do something else.

Organized sports are okay for your little ones, but there is something much better and something that will encourage a lifetime of movement and good health. Children learn from watching you. Instead of you watching them play, join your preschooler and swim, twirl, or run!
