This summer is a hot one. In many places it’s not much cooler even in the early morning or evening. Families and young children who regularly play outside, may have to cut back on outdoor time. So, what’s a nature loving family to do? Bring nature inside!
One fun way is to use a large container or sand/water table if you have one. Fill with natural items like sticks, leaves, rocks, flowers, and add water. Some young children will play for hours with such a set up. Remember, whenever water is in a container, children need supervision.
If you want to keep the focused fun going day after day, you’ll need to change up the items in the nature basin. One fun change is to take out the items and add sand and shells. Your child can practice making small sand castles right in your home.
Keep cool and don’t let the hot sun keep your child away from nature play.
