A Promise to Grow is a book for all ages from little ones to adults. The story is about the West Haven neighborhood in Charlottesville, but in many ways, it is the same story we have seen across the country.

For children this is a tale of hope and community, emphasizing that it just takes one seed. The story focuses on CJ, a young resident of West Haven, who sees a need for fresh produce and meets that need by starting a community garden. One person can spark an idea that brings people together and creates positive change.

For adults the Afterword by Dr. Andrea Douglas and Jordy Yager helps us to learn our past—so we don’t repeat it.

This is a story of hope and investing our time in energy in each other. To purchase contact City of Promise at  info@cityofpromise.org
