Something a little different today we review an early reader, that also works well as a picture book for preschool age children. Cowgirl Kate and Cocoa is a series about two friends, one is of course, a horse. Enjoy their adventures, struggles, and triumphs. The winsome characters and the simple texts make this a great series for those who are just starting on their reading adventures. Because these stories are highly illustrated, they feel a lot like picture books.

If you don’t recognize the Illustrator right away – think, Click, Clack Moo: Cows that Type or Duck for President. Betsy Lewin’s paintings are a joyous and humorous. A real treat.
