These fun wonderfully illustrated books by Jon Klassen bring up loads of questions and conversations for preschoolers. Klassen’s genius is the simplicity (and cleverness) of the pictures and text.

If you are lucky enough to read the first couple stories, start with This Is Not My Hat. Even though this is the reverse order in which they were written. In my experience with preschoolers, this story brings laughter as well as some thoughts and questions about theft and about the ending.

I Want My Hat Back does make a small reference that ties into This Is Not My Hat, that your child is sure to catch and enjoy. Also funny, this story handles the ending a bit differently and that’s all I can say without writing a spoiler:)

The third book is about two friends and is called, We Found a Hat. Finding a hat is a problem if there is only one hat and two friends!
