About a year ago I wrote a post called the Joy of Skipping and it is joyous. Just last week a preschooler told me, "Skipping is my favorite thing!" with a huge smile on her face. She reminded me how important it is to move with abandon.
A recent post celebrated the joy of skipping - that high-flying motor skill that elevates your mood as well as your body. Today we will discuss another motor skill that is equally important, rolling.
There is nothing quite like skipping. It’s feels a bit like flying. Young children tend to skip naturally and joyfully. I once stood outside a 3rd grade classroom and watched a girl in the class get up and skip to the back of the classroom to sharpen her pencil. Then she skipped back to her desk and happily sat down to write. I remember thinking, when do most people stop skipping?
